What a conversial topic you brought up! Personally I don't think euthanasia should be legalized. Everyone is God's precious sons and daughters. They're all entitled to leading happy lives!

We cannot choose the time of death. I think it only depends on our destiny given by God.

If the person has no consciousness, then it could be another story. If not, I believe the decision should be solely made by the patient.

Assisted suicide, or euthanasia is indeed an extremely controversial issue. Although opponents to mercy-killing cite religious reasons, that people cannot choose to end their own lives, proponents, on the other hand, say that one should have the right to leave the world with dignity. Then, which side could be considered to be on the right path, if there is one? Legalizing or forbidding assisted suicide, in essence, cannot be a black or white issue. Religious reasons cannot become grounds for prohibition, since there are atheists, and some religions do not have any principles on taking one's own life. Yet one should be cautious not to simply root for legalization because once people start to make their own choices, without any restraing rules or monitoring organizations, it will inevitably lead to an abuse of the system. To sum up, both sides should try to understand each other, and make a compromise. Since life's dignity should be respected, assisted suicide must not be carried out unless there is due consideration and contemplation about why it is needed.
